Welcome to #DoingOurBit

Created by the NHS for the NHS, #DoingOurBit is a free fitness platform offering a wide range of bespoke workouts gifted by carefully selected PTs and fitness instructors. The workouts are accessible, friendly and welcoming with plenty for beginners. Devised in lockdown, this genuine and heartfelt gift to the hard-working NHS community is set to stay long into the future.

#DoingOurBit started as a ‘passion project’ during the Covid-19 pandemic when Julie Davis, Deputy Chief Operating Officer at the Clinical Research Network West Midlands, wanted to support her 190 colleagues by giving them access to free fitness sessions. Her neighbouring Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust heard about this and wanted to share with its 10,000 staff. All of a sudden, Julie needed a bigger platform, additional expertise and help.

Leading fitness industry businesses Active IQ, Study Active and fibodo quickly stepped up. Sharing Julie’s vision, they helped to create #DoingOurBit which launched in June 2020. Today, over 100 NHS trusts have signed up, giving over 600,000 NHS staff access to the free workouts.

“#DoingOurBit started during the first Covid-19 pandemic when I wanted to support my 190 colleagues by giving them access to free fitness sessions. My neighbouring Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust wanted to share with its 10,000 staff. All of a sudden, I needed a bigger platform, additional expertise and help!

“Leading fitness industry businesses Active IQ, Study Active and fibodo quickly stepped up.  Sharing my vision, they helped me create #DoingOurBit. Each gave their time generously and freely – as did all the PTs whose workouts are featured – to ‘give back’ and ‘do their bit’ to support the hardworking NHS during the 2020/2021 pandemic and beyond.

“#DoingOurBit launched in June 2020 and word quickly spread. We now have 107 NHS trusts signed up, giving over 650,000 NHS staff access to the free workouts. New Trusts and staff are coming on board each week.’

“Each #DoingOurBit workout is unique and every minute has been externally verified to ensure the highest level of safety, integrity and quality.  From yoga, Pilates and dance fitness to seated fitness, low and high impact sessions, core training and family fun, there really is something for everyone.

“My aim is that #DoingOurBit will continue to support the physical and mental wellbeing of NHS staff for many years to come.
