Easing (back) into exercise

We know that moving for your health is the key to life and yet so many people are denied the health benefits of movement because they lack self-confidence, have poor fitness levels, or find it hard to access activity due to geography, transport, lack of local facilities or safety issues surrounded by exercising outdoors.

Making activity accessible forms the basis of DoingOurBit, so we are delighted to join forces with Fun And Moving (FAM) who specialise in medically approved digital rehab, health and wellness programmes. Routines include suitable movement for Rehab, PreOp, Balance and Memory Care through the disciplines of Dance, Tai Chi, Yoga, and Pilates. Plus, they also have a comprehensive workplace health section. So, truly something for everyone: whatever your starting point.

Getting going

FAM, like DoingOurBit, is committed to getting everyone moving regardless of their current fitness level, age, gender, or ethnicity. They remove common barriers to movement and let people choose a movement programme to suit their lifestyle and goals.

There are workouts from a bed, chair, or standing position. The rehab section is extensive, covering recovery from Hip and Knee replacement, Carpal Tunnel, Frozen Shoulder, Sprained Ankle, Back Pain, and Rotator Cuff injury. Meanwhile, its adaptive series helps with the activities of daily living, and a pre-op section helps people build strength and fitness before surgery.

Up and running already?

FAM isn’t just for those starting on their fitness journey. There are workouts that make excellent cross-training days for other forms of exercise. Because all their workouts are low impact and don’t use equipment, these sessions are an excellent filler for days when you don’t want to pound the streets or go to the gym.

There are also bite-size workouts for the workplace to keep you sharp or relaxed and a whole bank of videos to keep your brain healthy.

Proud – and valued – partner

FAM shares the DoingOurBit belief that NHS and social care workers deserve the same quality of healthcare that they give on a daily basis. By sharing some of its 1500+ videos on this platform – and changing them regularly to keep things fresh – they are a much-valued partner.
